We are parents, family and community members, business people, and educators dedicated to improving education for our children in our community. Mission StatementOur mission is to improve student achievement and create enhanced accountability of administrators through local control of public schools located in West Bernalillo and portions of Sandoval County. We will do this with with parent, community, government and business partnerships. Objectives• Increase Parent/Community Participation • Engage all students with innovative learning opportunities • Strengthen Education Leadership • Create Small Learning Communities within schools • Continued Education for Teachers (not just professional development) • Create Effective School calendar to address summer learning loss • School Hours dedicated to teaching • Coordinated afterschool programs • Intensive academic intervention for grade level competency and beyond (during school year) We are in the process of filing for 501(c)(3) and New Mexico Non Profit Incorporation PASS Board Of Directors Dan Serrano, President Dan is a long time community advocate, working to improve the lives of our youth and family. Dan is active in improving Westside infrastructure, including roads, schools and athletic facilities. Dan has served as president of the Westside Chamber of Commerce, chair of the Westside YMCA Board, immediate past president of the Westside Coalition of Neighborhood Associations and a youth sports coach. Dan is a successful businessman and understands the importance of our education system on our economy.
Gerald Torres, Vice President Gerald is a native Albuquerquean and graduate of Valley High. He has two children attending APS schools and has been actively involved in school issues. He is a longtime employee of the county and serves in the military.
Betty Valdez, Treasurer Betty is a native Albuquerquean and graduate of West Mesa High. Betty has been actively involved in community issues and serves on the APS Community Capital Advisory Commission. Betty has over 27 years experience in housing and is the current Director of Housing for the county.
Betty Hanes, Secretary Betty is a longtime resident of Albuquerque and recently retired as a paralegal to the District Attorney’s office. She has been actively involved in her grandchildren’s education and issues with APS.
